Creamy, tangy, probiotic-rich milk kefir – made in your own kitchen, forever.
Milk kefir is a fermented drinking yoghurt with an even wider range of probiotics than regular yoghurt. Many people who struggle with milk find kefir easier to enjoy, as the cultures digest much of the lactose during fermentation.
Symbiota's genuine milk kefir grains are a living mesophilic culture of beneficial yeasts and lactic acid bacteria, sourced from multiple origins for greater diversity. These are dried, so they're shelf stable (best kept in the fridge) until you're ready to start.
How to use
-
Rehydrate: place the grains in 1 cup of milk and refresh every 48–72 hours until they turn spongy and the milk tastes fermented (this can take up to a week).
-
Ferment: move the active grains into 3–4 cups of milk and leave at room temperature (18–24°C) for 12–24 hours.
-
Strain & repeat: drink or flavour your kefir, and pop the grains straight into fresh milk.
A one-time purchase – look after your grains and they'll keep making kefir for life.
Tip: pasteurised milk gives the most reliable results. Keep milk kefir and Viili yoghurt cultures (and utensils) separate, as they can cross-contaminate.
